P13.9-million marijuana plants uprooted in Kalinga

Combined element of Kalinga Provincial Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera implemented Oplan Jolly Green, destroyed and burned worth P13.9 million at the mountainous area of Barangay Bugnay, Tinglaya Kalinga on Saturday, September 19.

Combined elements of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Cordillera implemented “Oplan Jolly Green”, and discovered six plantation sites in the area. Kalina PPO Col. Davy Limmong said a total of 68,800 fully grown marijuana plants with a Dangerous Drug Board value of P13.96 million planted in an area covering 4,000 square meters were uprooted and burned on site.

PDEA Regional Director Gil Castro said the marijuana eradication, dubbed as KPPO Oplan 17 “Quebec Jolly Green”, was conducted as a continuous effort to clear drug-affected barangays in Kalinga. Castro said the successful marijuana eradication was a product of the relentless effort of the law enforcers in clearing marijuana infested areas in Kalinga.
