“So far, there is no request for repatriation,” he said in an interview Wednesday in Manila.
“In fact, the rate of contamination of COVID-19 in S. Korea increased. Frtunately, not one of our OFWs are affected,” added Bello.“Most of them are factory workers. Some work in wellness. We have many skilled workers there and very few household service workers,” said Bello. He said they also did not receive any request for repatriation from Iran and other countries in the Middle East.On Monday, the labor chief said he is not recommending a travel ban to and from South Korea.Bello added that the labor office in Seoul there is also not recommending a travel ban.
“There remains one unverified case of a Filipino in Korea and the cases are just contained in one area,” he said. Bello said he will leave the decision on the matter to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases .
