President Duterte has not yet named a new chief of the Philippine National Police amid the circulation of a document in the social media stating that Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa is the new top cop.Gamboa is currently the PNP’ Officer-In-Charge after Gen. Oscar Albayalde quit his post on Monday over the controversial drug recycling issue.
He is referring to a supposed memorandum dated October 16 purportedly coming from the PNP Headquarters Support Service regarding the preparation for the turnover ceremony between Albayalde and Gamboa. Banac said the document is probably a part of the preparations for the scheduled Change of Command on October 29.
“It could just be for planning purposes. As of now, nothing [is] final yet, plans and details may change,” said Banac.
