Proposed Maharlika fund loses support of PCCI Degamo, who attended online the Regional Development Council (RDC) in Central Visayas meeting in Cebu City on Tuesday, cited cultural differences between Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental as among the reasons why the NIR should not be brought back.By: Daniza Fernandez - Inquirer.By: Wenilyn B.City Airport on December 19, after it recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the city government.
He said residents of Negros Oriental prefer to be a part of the Cebuano-speaking people of Bohol, Cebu and Siquijor provinces.“I see no problem with being a part of Central Visayas. The panel, chaired by Senator JV Ejercito, passed Senate Bill Nos.There’s no issue there,” he said Degamo said the matter of creating the NIR should not be rushed as there were a lot of issues that needed to be ironed out.The two are Phoebe Joy Dingcong (top 8) and Carmela Bihag (top 10).Regional center One of the things that needs to be considered in reviving the NIR is where the regional offices should be located—a choice between Negros Oriental, whose capital city is Dumaguete, and Negros Occidental, whose capital city is Bacolod. The Negros Island Region would consist of the provinces of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.“So as governor of Negros Oriental, I believe it must be done properly. With these direct flights, it will be more convenient for Boronganons to travel to and from our beloved city.
There are a lot of pros and cons in the creation of the NIR,” Degamo said.“Malinaw po ang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan sa Negros Occidental at Negros Oriental na gawing isang rehiyon ang Negros Island upang mas mapabilis at mailapit ang mga serbisyo ng national government sa kanila.Garganera said that the city officials will personally shoulder the expenses and no government funds will be used for the said incentive.Sought for comment on the issue, Bohol Gov.Aris Aumentado, RDC chair, said the council would not take a position yet on the creation of the NIR.(The need of our fellow Filipinos in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental to make Negros Island a region is clear as it will hasten and bring closer the services of the national government to them.ADVERTISEMENT Aumentado said the NIR might be difficult to realize now since Degamo already expressed his opposition to the matter. The city council also recognized the other exam passers as well as the officials of CTU-CCMC College of Nursing for the school’s 100-percent passing rate in the exams.Ease of doing business “If they do not want to unify under the NIR, then who are we to say and push for it when those involved are not interested,” he said.) The Negros Island Region was established in 2015 through Executive Order No.“One of the main reasons why many of our fellow Boronganons who have been living elsewhere do not come and visit our city is because of the travel required to go here,” Rupert Ambil, city information officer-in-charge and head of Borongan City Flight Operations said.
In 2015, the NIR was established through Executive Order No.183 issued by then President Benigno Aquino III.But it was abolished in 2017 through Executive Order No.The PRC also announced that 18,529 of the 24,903 who took the exams passed. It was, however, abolished in 2017 by then President Rodrigo Duterte through Executive Order No.38.RELATED STORIES:.Plans to revive the NIR continued under the administration of President Marcos.CAAP also provided x-ray machines from other airport facilities to Borongan, while the Borongan City Government “will handle the logistics and will manage the refurbishment of the airport following recommendations from flight specialists.
On Monday, the Senate committee on local government approved five bills seeking to establish the NIR.Sen.Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, who chairs the committee, said people of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental needed the NIR so that services of the national government could be accelerated and brought closer to them.“We also believe that this will also be the way to make the region more vibrant,” he said in a statement sent to Inquirer.Ejercito, whose mother is from Bacolod City, said the NIR bills in the Senate would be consolidated to boost the efficiency of public service in these areas.
The bills include Ejercito’s Senate Bill No.1236, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri’s Senate Bill No.89, Sen.Sherwin Gatchalian’s Senate Bill No.812, Sen.
Bong Revilla’s Senate Bill No.1422 and Sen.Lito Lapid’s Senate Bill No.1469.Zubiri, whose father is from Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, said there was a growing clamor for the establishment of the NIR since residents of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental still needed to travel to either Iloilo or Cebu to transact with the regional offices of several national government agencies.
“It’s the ease of doing business for government transactions.I don’t think it’s going to cost us more to revive the NIR, because it has been done for several years,” Zubiri said in a statement.INQ Read Next.
