More than 1,800 passengers were stranded while nearly 500 individuals were forced to flee their homes due to the effects of typhoon “Bising” in Eastern Visayas and in Bicol, officials said on Sunday, April 18.
In Bicol, 995 passengers were stranded in ports while 319 rolling cargoes such as buses, trucks, and other land vehicles were restricted from traveling. There were also 105 families composed of 340 persons that were evacuated in Garchitorena, Camarines Sur due to typhoon Bising, Timbal added. Jalad said there were a total of P1.6 billion in stockpiles and standby funds from the Department of Social Welfare and Development that are readily available for deployment in areas that will be hit by the typhoon.
