“I understand where our medical and health professionals are coming from. They are expectedly getting weary. I agree that they need all the support and care that the government can provide,” Guevarra said.

“But everyone else is getting weary. Millions of people need to go back to work and earn a living, or else they die of hunger. We need to stir the economy back to life, albeit gradually, lest we reach a point where it will be doubly difficult to recover,” he added. “All of us have to make personal sacrifices for the common good. All these will come to pass, and when it’s all over the nation will remember with gratitude those who were heroes during this dreadful pandemic. Our doctors, nurses, and other health workers surely top them all.”Guevarra is a member of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases .

Forty medical societies, spearheaded by the Philippine College of Physicians , have asked President Duterte to place Metro Manila anew under ECQ to check effectively the rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 . The President has directed IATF to look into and act immediately on the concerns raised by the health frontliners.

Business makes no sense any more in the Philippines. Poverty will overwhelm the country. Dark times are coming.

Reverting NCR back to ECQ not worth catastrophic cost and for what- COVID persists even with strictest ECQ-China and longest ECQ-NCR Already so many businesses closed Too many lost jobs More quarantine and people die from hunger and despair Worse govt go bankrupt Civil unrest

The most sense I've heard out of Manila all day. Stand your ground, Sir.

Keep prioritizing economic issues that could be resolved by dealing with the root problem, pandemic. You're catching the snake by its tail, an utterly unwise move. Stop fantasizing about your 'new normal,' which would never come coz of socio-economic, even cultural, reasons.

Hmmmm, I thought your government was once said before that nobody dies in hunger...now you use it because you don’t want to place under stricter category....you better assist the frontliners and health workers so you feel how exhausting it is...

Tangna niyo asan ang plano 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

You can kiss the healthcare sector goodbye because the breakdown is innevitable w/ the increasing of cases. Stress and lack of sleep will only decrease the effectiveness of the immune system, thus putting frontliners at increased risk.

That headline! Smh who talks like that. Anew nixed. Say it lol say it out loud.
