New COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR), as well as in the provinces of Batangas, Cavite Laguna and Rizal, are on a downward trend, OCTA Research said Friday.

Citing government data, Rizal has the lowest reproduction rate at 0.69 among provinces in the Calabarzon region as of January 27, 2022, with Quezon having the highest at 1.35.NCR's reproduction rate, meanwhile, fell furtherfrom 0.63 on January 26to 0.52 on January 27.

Reproduction rate refers to the number of people infected by one case. A reproduction number that is below 1 indicates that the transmission of the virus is slowing down.As far as average daily attack rate (ADAR) is concerned, Cavite has the highest in Calabarzon at 32.66 followed by Laguna with 31.96. Quezon has the lowest with 11.13.
