National costume ni Rabiya Mateo sa Miss Universe ‘avant garde, modern’

Ang isusuot na national costume ni Mateo ay gawa ng Filipino designer na si Rocky Gathercole, habang si Manny Halasan naman ang naatasang gumawa ng headpiece at ibang accessory para sa costume.

Si Halasan ang naging daan para makompleto ang national costume ni Mateo matapos ang pagpanaw ni Gathercole.“Nag-provide ako ng some things para sa national costume niya para makumpleto yung iniwan ni sir Rocky,” sabi ni Halasan.“It’s very avant-garde, very modern. Pag nakita mo siya it represents the whole country, makikita mo yung Pilipinas and also ma-iinspire ka kasi ma-iimagine mo ang hopes and dreams ng bawat Pilipino,” sabi ni Halasan.

“Naniniwala ako na malakas siya kasi unang-una maingay siya hindi lang dito sa bansa natin, maingay din siya sa ibang bansa ang palaban yung Miss Universe natin,” sabi niya. Nagpasalamat din ang Bulacan-based jeweler kay Mateo sa ipinapakita nitong katapangan sa pagkamit sa korona. “Thank you kay Miss Universe Philippines natin, kay Rabiya, kasi matapang siyang lumalaban para sa bansa natin at para sa korona and thank you sa ibinibigay niyang inspiration during ngayon panahon ng pandemic,” sabi niya. — TeleRadyo 14 Mayo 2021
