NO NATIONAL ROADS? The MMDA eyes banning motorcycle taxi operations along national highways. File photo by Darren Langit/Rappler
During a press briefing on Thursday, February 13, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said that the agency made this recommendation to the motorcycle taxi technical working group .[Nagrecommend] din kami sa TWG, baka pwedeng 'pag pinayagan nila 'yan, hindi natin papayagan sa mga national roads ang motorcycle taxis...
According to the 2018 report of the Metro Manila Accident Reporting and Analysis System, motorcycles composed 12.95% of the total number of vehicles involved in road crashes.
Not just motor cycle taxis.
The reasoning applies to motorcycle in general, not only to motorcycle taxi ( with the exemption, i guess, of 600cc and up which are allowed on highways). MMDA should not discriminate motorcycle taxi.
