The Senate minority bloc has filed a resolution honoring the late former Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman for her invaluable contributions to the field of social work as a distinguished public servant.
Soliman, he recalled, was one of the resigned Cabinet officials known as the “Hyatt 10” who withdrew support for then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who was accused of fraud in the 2004 presidential elections. Even before working at the DSWD when she was appointed by Arroyo, Soliman has spent many decades organizing peasant and urban poor communities all over the country to assert their rights, the senator recalled.
The minority bloc also said Soliman help steer the government’s flagship poverty alleviation program—the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program .
