The board of directors of the Manila International Airport Authority has rejected the appeal for reconsideration filed by Megawide Construction Corp. and its foreign partner GMR Infrastructure Ltd. seeking to overturn the revocation of their original proponent status for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport rehabilitation project.MIAA media affairs head Jess Martinez said the MIAA board will soon release a formal announcement on the issue.

Transportation Undersecretary Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo serves as the MIAA board’s chairman but there is a rumor that he has resigned as undersecretary of the Department of Transportation. The members of the board of MIAA are Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra, Office of the President Undersecretary Jesus Melchor V. Quitain, Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines Director-General Jim C. Sydiongco, Tourism Secretary Bernadette T. Romulo-Puyat, Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III, and private sector representatives Leoncio Dakila S. Nakpil and Leonardo P. Lopez.
