In line with the government’s response in the rising cases of COVID-19 in the country, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Roger G. Mercado has conducted an inspection on the modular health facility for mandatory quarantine in Pasay City.
“We are checking if facilities after months of use remain conducive to people experiencing mild symptoms or if we need to undertake preventive maintenance of some parts,” said Mercado. The isolation facility inspected by Mercado and other DPWH officials was the off-site dormitory for medical personnel along J.W. Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City.These facilities include seven in Pasay City, two each in Pasig and Muntinlupa City, one each in Makati, Marikina, San Juan, Las Piñas, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela City, three in Parañaque City, four in the city of Manila, and eight in Quezon City.
“Our isolation facilities, although temporary, must be properly-maintained,” Mercado said. “So that we can continue to address the needs of patients who are recovering, while preventing spread of infection to healthcare workers.” Each facility is equipped with fully-air conditioned rooms, beds, toilet and bath, some with dormitories for healthcare workers that have living, dining, kitchen, and laundry areas.
