With the election just three days away, contending parties are winding up their campaigns, while the Commission on Elections tries to iron all the kinks related to the May 9 polls.

Among the poll agency’s latest announcements were: the 7 p.m. cut-off in voting could be extended, and there are almost 2,000 vote counting machines that are at the ready to replace defective VCMs. The Philippine National Police has placed all its units under the highest alert, raising its prevention and reaction capabilities for any untoward incident during the elections.

GUARDING THE VOTES – The command center of Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting located at the University of Santo Tomas is shown to media on Friday, May 6, 2022. PPCRV’s activities include advocating for electoral reforms, conducting parallel manual auditing in automated elections, coordinating parishes to conduct poll-watching, providing legal assistance related to elections, reporting of electoral violations, and voters’ education.
