The number of new coronavirus disease cases may be going down in Metro Manila, but the trajectory of infections is going up for the rest of the country, and this has become a cause of concern for the OCTA Research Group.

But for Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022, the Department of Health posted 28,471 new cases, considerably down from the more than 37,000 registered a day before. Also, for the first time in weeks, recoveries outnumbered the new infections. Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has drawn the line, saying that there was no law mandating compulsory vaccination, or restricting the movement of those who are not vaccinated.

This, as the Department of Transportation clarified that those unvaxxed, who will be heading to work, or those medically incapable of being vaccinated, are exempted from its “No Vax, No Ride” policy.
