The Makabayan bloc is seeking a probe into the impact of the Department of Agriculture's plan to import round scad or galunggong.

The bloc stated that fisherfolk groups have been opposing the importation of galunggong as this move is harmful to the local fishing industry. The group PAMALAKAYA, for its part, has said the importation of galunggong will only "drive down the farmgate prices of fish," the Makabayan bloc said., including galunggong, in the first quarter of 2022 to boost local production.
