Beatrice GoLuke Gebbie wrapped up Philippine swimming's campaign in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in the men's 50m freestyle heats on Friday, July 30, at the Tokyo Aquatic Center.Gebbie clocked 22.84 seconds to finish first in the heat, but failed to make the top 16 swimmer-cut in the event that featured 10 heats.
He finished 41st overall in the highly competitive event as American swim star Caeleb Dressel took the top spot with a time of 21.32 seconds.The Fil-Kiwi still holds the national record of 22.57 seconds which he set in the Australian Olympic trials last June in Adelaide.
Gebbie exited the Tokyo Games with anational recordin the men's 100m freestyle, clocking 49.64 seconds in the heats.In the country's hosting of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, Gebbie bagged the bronze in the 50m freestyle. Read more: Rappler »
