(SCREEN GRAB FROM PAGASA YOUTUBE CHANNEL)Caraga and Eastern Visayas may start to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough or extension of an approaching low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, Jan. 22.

PAGASA weather specialist Robb Gile said the LPA was last spotted at 1,435 kilometers east of Mindanao as of 3 a.m.It will likely enter the country’s area of responsibility between Saturday evening, Jan. 22, and Sunday morning, Jan. 23.Gile said the LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone but due to its westward movement, the central and southern portions of the country will still experience rains in the coming week.
