– A town councilor has been nabbed in a buy-bust operation Friday, July 3, in Babatngon, Leyte.

The suspect was identified as Ceasar Bergula, 52, a councilor of Babatngon, and a resident of Barangay Distrist II. He was also listed as a high-value individual of the municipality. Agent Novemar Pinanonang, operation team leader from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Region 8 , said the suspect was nabbed at around 7:40 a.m. at the Babatngon Public Market located in Barangay District 4.“There was no resistance during the arrest, and we were not also able to recover any firearm from the suspect,” he shared.

Bergula is temporarily detained at the PDEA-8 regional detention facility in Palo, Leyte pending inquest proceedings. He will also be subjected to drug testing, while the evidence obtained was sent to the Regional Crime Laboratory 8 for qualitative and quantitative analysis. The suspect will be facing charges for violation of Section 5 , and Section 11 , Article II, of the Republic Act 9165.
