The artists who banded together to create the eye-catching mural at the Leni-Kiko volunteer center on Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City on Saturday, Nov. 27, are the best representation of a “people’s campaign”, presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo said.Robredo has referred to her election campaign as a people’s campaign, with some political pundits preferring to call it a “pink movement”.
The artists who made the mural possible are Marganta San Juan, Nathan Sarcia, Reena Gabriel, Ronan Capili, Sam Bumanlag, Didi Lopa, Ina Esquivel, AG Saño, Bet Lazatin, Celine Mercado, Cristina Arrobio, Glendford Lumbao, Albert Raqueño, Gabe Naguiat and Jan Sunday, Kyla Gancayco, Lee Caces, Melissa and Mark Canteras, Ysa Da Silva, Joel Fabonan, Noel Martin, Elena Moran, and members of the group Architects for Leni.
“Sila talaga yung nagrerepresent what this campaign is all about. Itong kampanyang ito isn’t about us. Itong kampanyang ito is about what we can all contribute to make things better,” Robredo said.Volunteers for her 2022 presidential bid are welcome to the headquarters, and Robredo has even asked them to “Please treat this place as your own.
The volunteer artists made the murals “vibrant, cheerful, and hopeful” because these mirror the “positive vibe” of Robredo and Pangilinan’s tandem. It took them almost six nights to finish the murals.
