SC Spokesman Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka released the names of the JBC nominees late Tuesday afternoon.
Aside from Marquez, the nominees are Associate Justices Apolinario D. Bruselas Jr., Ramon A. Cruz; Edgardo L. delos Santos, Japar B. Dimaampao, Samuel H. Gaerlan, Ramon R. Garcia, Jhosep Y. Lopez, Mario V. Lopez, Maria Filomena D. Singh, Edwin D. Sorongon and Elihu A. Ybanez, and Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo M. Cabotaje Tang.
Hosaka said the list of nominees will be submitted to President Duterte who has 90 days from September 26 to name Jardeleza’s replacement.Chief Justice Lucas P. Bersmin and Senior Associate Justice Antonio T. Carpio will mandatorily retire on October 18 and October 26, respectively. There are four aspirants to the Chief Justice post. They are SC Associate Justices Diosdado M. Peralta, Estela M. Perlas Bernabe, Andres B. Reyes Jr. and Jose C. Reyes Jr.
