“Ineng” further intensified from a tropical storm into a severe tropical storm on Friday before it is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility this weekend.
In the 11 a.m. weather bulletin of PAGASA, the eye of the storm was last spotted 500 kilometers east northeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, and was moving at a slightly faster pace towards north northwest at 25 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, signal number 1 was still up in Cagayan, including Babuyan Group of Islands, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Northern Abra, and Ilocos Norte.
While light to moderate with intermittent heavy rains may be experienced over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces and northern portions of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands due to the storm and the enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat”.
PAGASA raised gale warnings on the coasts of Aurora, eastern coast of Quezon, including Polilio Island, Camarines provinces, Catanduanes, eastern coast Of Albay, eastern coast of Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar and Leyte. Coastal waters on these seaboards will be rough and can reach a wave height of up to 4.5 meters.
