Despite the dramatic facelift, the government still prohibits the public from swimming in the area. Located near the Port of Manila, this portion of the bay remains polluted despite intermittent efforts to rehabilitate it over the years. The attraction is expected to draw promenaders not just from the City of Manila but from all over the metropolis, much like nearby Rizal Park. On Saturday, pedestrians crowded the area – despite the rule on social distancing – to take snapshots and selfies.

said recent rains likely caused saturated seawater near the bottom to rise toward the surface, bringing sediments and minuscule organisms that could have depleted dissolved oxygen in the water, thus"choking" the fish.

‘Impossible’ for Manila Bay ‘white sand’ to cause fish kill — DENR execAn official of the DENR said it was “impossible” for the artificial white sand or crushed dolomite dumped on the shoreline of Manila Bay to have caused the fishkill in the waters of Manila Bay. | jagoncilloINQ NikkaINQ jagoncilloINQ NikkaINQ It's not the composition of dolomite itself, rather its turning into clay-like form that smothers oxygen from the waters, thus causing the fishkill. The suspended particles kills off oxygen producing algae and blocks diffusion of oxygen on water surface. jagoncilloINQ NikkaINQ Napaka scientific naman ng reasoning nila na “impossible”. Sana mga DDS na lang yan! jagoncilloINQ NikkaINQ when they say it’s impossible, period na agad.

Seawater upwelling due to rain likely 'choked' Manila Bay fish, says BFARThe Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources cites the oceanographic phenomenon as a 'highly possible' reason for the recent fish kill in Manila Bay. Upwelling—-hmmm! Dapat ma simulate sa aquarium yan No need for experts on this particular field, DENR has already concluded that the yellow saboteurs are guilty of tanim-isda. That genius Antiporda should be considered for a possible national scientist award.
