“Imeldific” was how Albay Rep. Joey Sarte-Salceda described the P55 million cauldron for the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) that Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon assailed the other day.

However, Salceda noted that although the torch-lighting ceremony cauldron appeared to be ostentatious as he described it to be, the lawmaker believes that the P5 billion that government will spend for hosting the international sports event is reasonable.

“Yung P55 million pag tiningnan mo ‘yung cauldron mukhang resonable naman kaso ‘imeldific’ yung dating, may grandiosity ,” Salceda said. Drilon, who was once a critic of the Marcoses, questioned the propriety of constructing the P55 million caudron, pointing out that the money could already be used to build 50 classrooms which has remained lacking in the current education system of the country.

“It personifies the new character for the Philippines being a strong economy,” said the administration lawmaker.

Reasonableness and Imeldific doesn't go together. History taught us that if a project is Imeldific in nature, costing is beyond reasonableness. 😡

P50-M SEA Games ‘kaldero’ is ‘Imeldific’ but reasonable — solonAlbay 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda reasoned that the structure could symbolize the “coming of age” of the Philippines, where there is a strong economy and a “strong government.” BULLSHIT!!! PHILS IS A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY!!! SINK THAT IN YOUR MIND!!! SPLURGING LIKE OTHER FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES IN SPENDING IS NOT A SANE DECISION!!! SPEND MONEY WISELY!!! Me as a history tchr to my students: Ang kaldero na eto ay nagkakahalaga ng P50M para sa SEA Games 2019.Sunod-sunod na lindol at pagbaha ang nangyayari sa Pilipinas ngunit inuna nilang gastusan ang kaldero at isinantabi ang rehabilitation ng mga nalindol at nabahang mamayan. What? Strong economy? Eh tinaxan nyo na lahat.. Pero binawasan nyo yung fund ng DoH, Education sector etc.. Mga wallet nyo lang yata yung nagiging strong.
