MANILA—The local government of Ilocos Norte on Saturday declared a state of calamity in the entire province as floods and heavy rains brought about by typhoon Ineng persisted.
Heavy rains caused widespread damage in Ilocos Norte, killing cattle and destroying equipment. Two people are also reported dead.Laoag was placed under a state of calamity as floods ravaged parts of the city and farmlands.Weather bureau PAGASA said Ineng's outer rainbands continued to affect extreme northern Luzon even as it made its way to southern Taiwan.
