The Northern Luzon province was placed under a state of calamity, Saturday, after Ineng's heavy rains left 2 people dead, and inundated farm lands, leaving cows drowned and crops submerged in floods, according to earlier reports.
The region is in need of seeds, fertilizers and livestock to help affected farmers to start over, Ilocos Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council head Marcell Tabije said in an interview on ANC. "Our priority now is to rehabilitate all the agri areas that have been damaged and look after the welfare of farmers and livestock resource since many livestock were also reportedly lost during the flooding," Tabije said.
Some 559 persons who are staying in evacuation centers are expected to return to their homes Sunday as floods have begun to subside. Tropical storm Ineng left the Philippine Area of Responsibility , Saturday evening, but another weather disturbance is expected to hit the country in the coming days, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
