MANILA – The Philippines’ COVID-19 task force is pushing to fast-track the implementation of the national ID system in hopes of providing immediate service to vulnerable groups during crises, an offic

ial said Friday.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed in August 2018 the Philippine System Identification Act, which mandates the government to create a single official identification card for all citizens and foreign residents that would serve as a de facto national identification number. Prior to the signing of the PhilSys Act, the Philippines had been one of the few countries in the world which had no national ID system.

In April, the Philippine Statistics Authority set registration for the national ID system to October, moving it from the original July schedule because of the coronavirus pandemic. In his statement, Nograles also noted “booming” industries despite the COVID-19 pandemic, which has dampened the economy. These fields include the health and medical sectors, retail and online services.

Good. Yan ang aming hinihintay.

It has been 2 to 3 months now that it is being pushed for implementation, until now, pinu-push pa rin. Oh, what a government is this?

What is delaying the implementation of this ID system, same people or group rallying against the Anti-Terrorism bill?

The speed of delivering services isn't an ID issue but a cover for LGUs inefficiency

National ID to compliment with the effective implementation of anti terror bill. Well done Malacanang 👏👏👏👏

The objective is to put a tag on everyone, for the distribution of benefits is a poor and ludicrous alibi, together with the anti terror bill, you’ve just lost all your freedoms!

support National ID system...even sa ibang developed countries....they have it. But for me, I dont trust the govt and PH system....walang safeguard sa data...dove mron.

this works well if managed and handled well. everyone should give importance to own info, that's all it takes to turn your world upside down.

another delaying decision..

So saan na naman kukunin ang pondo nyan? Sa halos naiigang kaban ng bayan? Or utang na naman? Ni hindi na nga matustusan itong krisis ng COVID..Iaagaw pa sa dapat mapunta sa mga tao..

Char lang

All you against this... this is why your country is crab mentality, your special IDs that get your out of trouble wont matter anymore

Perhaps this should have been the priority measure instead of that TerrorBill...

From the CCP textbook on civilian surveillance. First step, data base of all citizens.

What’s next, social credit system? Eh hello, China 2.0! Dami bobo sa pinas. Shit.

Time to implement national ID and SIM card registration where the SIM card is tied to the individual's identity. SIM card will not be activated unless the identity will be verified in the central database.

One ID is wise and will save a lot of time, reduce traffic, especially with our current systems (which should be more high tech, it's already the 21st century):-) Stay safe, everyone. RRD_Davao DickGordonDG sotto_tito VicoSotto IskoMoreno _camillevillar MannyPacquiao
