THE House of Representatives on Tuesday approved on final reading a bill declaring May 16 of each year as a special working holiday to be known as the National Education Support Personnel Day.
Assistant Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro welcomed the passage of House Bill 6948 on third and final reading. She urged the Senate “to immediately tackle and approve this bill for the swift passage of this bill into law” as “it is high time that we recognize education support personnel and the importance of their work.”
The House also approved on third and final reading House Bill 6910 that aims to institutionalize the alternative learning system in the basic education for out-of-school persons. Meanwhile, the House adopted House Resolution 969 which urges the Department of Education, the Department of Information and Communications Technology, and the Department of Health, in consultation with the major telecommunications companies, to form a task force which shall formulate a home-based virtual education system for teachers and K-12 students.
