MANILA, Philippines — Kamala Harris is not an icon of women's empowerment. Her visit to the Philippines is only for military expansion, putting Filipino women at heightened risk of abuse

But Brosas countered Harris’ supposed posturing, noting that the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca) places women in peril.
“We urge our fellow Filipinos to reject the nuclear deal between the US and the Philippine government, as well as the construction of more EDCA sites across the country which will make Filipino women more vulnerable to violence and abuse,” the lawmaker said.

Nagpapahalatang masyado ang mga aktibistang ito na sponsored ng China. Baka umaasa Ng bonus from China. I’m pretty sure cong. Brosas is not just there for empowerment of women also, she carries with her their leftist agenda in congress. Every countries have agendas. Ano ba tlga gusto nyo?
Ah, ok. Ang kilala kong Brosas, yun comedienne. But seriously, Harris had a mission for the US. After duterte's leaning with China, the US needed to do what it should, to deter China from pursuing its plans in the region. Whatever, she stands for is no longer relevant. Gabriela was a DuterteEnabler.
Duhhhh.. Obvious naman. Stating the obvious naman itong mga NPA mema lang. If you look at harris’ background then you know that this is true, and you’ll also understand why she’s been going around countries. The Philippines is important for the US because of our strategic position in the pacific. Link is broken.
Before we look at possible exploitation of pinays by foriegn powers, lets focus on the on going exploitation made by our Govt, current or recent. Gaga ka Brosas. Why was she expecting something else?

So...!! Still, the fact is, she's a woman and she's doing her job well😊✌ NoTochina Weee....pahiya lang si jr ikamo porket binanggit lang c Cory ganyan agad comment nila! Pero kung c Imelda binanggit ni Kamala puring puri yang mga ulupong kay Kamala!😂😂 Talk is cheap We are supposed to take care of our own domestic problems, our alliance with the U.S.A. is to enhance our foreign interests.
I'm with Brosas on this one. US only wants other countries to fight their war against their 'so called' enemy and at the same time selling them their weapons of war, w/c btw is 30+% of their economy. For me, coming to PH amidst years of long unsolved PH-CN dispute in WPS everyone knows globally shows power/strength that US is unafraid of CN & PH should stand up against oppression. So the big bro that Duts thought didn't care is not proving they do & we're not alone in this
I wish we did not have to take sides, but Rep Brosas should ask herself if China will do better on women's issues. Its not up to foreigners to protect Filipino adults & kids from all sorts of exploitation. I may not like Kamala but take note Ms Brosas, VP Harris is VP of the US not just VP of US women.
Harris’ visit a strong message: PH can no longer be bullied – BordadoThe visit of US Vice President Kamala Harris to the Philippines is a strong indication of international support for the Asian nation amid threats from China over disputed areas of the West Philippine Sea, a lawmaker said. | GabrielLaluINQ GabrielLaluINQ Given that we cant defend our territory ourselves, it is in our best interest to pick our allies well. The US isnt a perfect choice, but it probably is the best one we have right now. Lets just be careful that their uniformed men do not commit atrocities in our shores and land
hala wat say you?! lols Richeydarian datumx11 raissawriter cancel Rep.Brosas naba?! 🤣🤣🤣 Correct.always their agenda.she really doesn’t care. She likes attention the most thinking no one will notice her incompetence and being a puppet. Yeah, right! So do you mean, the Communists geopolitical agenda is much better?
Harris has never been FOR the ppl and neither has the US. We cannot rely on a country that has never cared abt the wellbeings of others or their own ppl. Are we forgetting their long history of political colonization? They work in the interest of money and power. To Brosas: Itigil mo na ang pagpapahiya sa sarili mo.
The Philippines needs to take the lead on empowering their own women and the LGBTQ community. America will not swoop in and cure your domestic ills. We have long held a military alliance. That’s our goal in the Philippines. Kahit ang purpose ng pagpunta nya dto is US military expansion, u still cannot deny the fact n she is a symbol of an empowered woman. accclang twoh
there's such a thing as multi-tasking, Brosas. I guess Brosas is all for China strengthening their military position in South Asia. Galit kay Harris kasi kakampi sila ng Tsekwa!

READ: In Palawan, Harris will also tackle climate issues affecting fisherfolk – US exec According to the US official, democracy is defined by the status of women in society. “On Tuesday, Harris visited Palawan where the West Philippine Sea is located. But Brosas countered Harris’ supposed posturing, noting that the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (Edca) places women in peril. It offers a wide variety of genres that will complete the tradition of Filipinos going to the cinemas during the holiday season,” said acting MMDA Chair and MMFF Overall Chair Romando Artes. “We urge our fellow Filipinos to reject the nuclear deal between the US and the Philippine government, as well as the construction of more EDCA sites across the country which will make Filipino women more vulnerable to violence and abuse,” the lawmaker said. This will require furthering women’s economic empowerment through policies such as supporting more flexible work arrangements, scaling up efforts to reskill and upskill women to help them secure more productive jobs, encouraging firms to expand opportunities for women who want to reenter the labor market, empowering women entrepreneurs in e-commerce, and addressing traditionally gendered norms and childcare challenges,” recommended the World Bank.
“VP Kamala Harris’ visit symbolizes not women’s empowerment but military and economic expansion at the expense of our national sovereignty. EDV. He then met with President Marcos and Vice President Duterte on Monday, where the two leaders talked about security and economic ties. Bitbit ni Harris ang geo-political agenda ng US na tiyak na may malubhang epekto sa bansa, tulad ng civil nuclear cooperation agreement na tiyak na magbubunga ng nuclear wastes na makaka-apekto sa kalusugan at kapaligiran,” she also explained. (Harris brings with her the US geo-political agenda, which would surely hurt the country, like the civil nuclear cooperation agreement, which would bear nuclear wastes that can affect public health and the environment.) Brosas was referring to negotiations for nuclear energy cooperation between the US and the Philippines – the “123 Agreement” — kickstarted when Harris visited the country. During her trip, Harris also led the launch of several programs of the US Embassy in the Philippines regarding energy and trade, while kickstarting negotiations between the two sides regarding a nuclear energy agreement. ADVERTISEMENT The 123 Agreement is a deal that the US forges with allies – based on Section 123 of the US Atomic Energy Act – which disallows partner countries from using the partnerships for nuclear energy to create nuclear weapons.
But Brosas and her fellow Makabayan bloc lawmaker, Alliance of Concerned Teachers Rep. France Castro, are wary that the deal combined with the Edca – which allows US troops to operate in the country – would put the Philippines in China’s crosshairs considering the Washington-Beijing rivalry. “First of all, even if they say that it is for civilian use, that is an experimental technology. That’s why we said that we would be guinea pigs in that cooperation. Second, there is a huge risk of being involved in that with China and US tensions […] These problems, we should not be involved between China and the US because that is dangerous,” Brosas said.
“If the nuclear sites are placed near our military bases where the US also takes base, we can be targeted by China – we know the status of the rivalry between China and the US, and it would be very risky and possibly damaging to Filipinos. We call on the Marcos Jr. administration to study this intently,” Castro added. Last Tuesday, Makabayan bloc legislators filed a resolution seeking an investigation into negotiations around the 123 Agreement, believing it may pose more dangers than advantages. READ: Makabayan solon wary of US-PH nuclear energy talks: Filipinos might be ‘guinea pigs’ A senior US official who spoke anonymously after Harris’ arrival in Manila last Sunday, November 20, said it is important that the Philippines and US start talks on the 123 Agreement so that the US can provide exports of nuclear material and equipment.
In a fact sheet released on the same day, Harris’ office said the start of the 123 Agreement negotiations signifies that the US is committed to addressing the Philippines’ energy problems. READ: .
