In the battle against the coronavirus outbreak, the government is backing the research and development of disinfection cubicles for the country’s health workers as well as ventilators as a life-saving tool for patients.In his latest weekly report to Congress, President Duterte said the Department of Science and Technology has approved the P4.7 million funding to develop the “Sani-Pod” that disinfects and protects health workers at hospitals.

“Five prototypes will be initially produced to be used at the UP-Philippine General Hospital,” he added. Of the 6,546 slots approved for the emergency hiring of health care personnel, at least 2,536 have been hired. At least 1,159 health workers will be assigned in Metro Manila. average of 39.7 percent occupancy rate. Three more COVID-19 testing laboratories have been accredited by the Department of Health , bringing the total to 37. At least 78 testing facilities are being evaluated, with the DOH hastening the licensing of Stage 3 and 4 laboratories and those using the GeneXpert experiment.
