The government has allowed hotels and other lodges to operate in the Philippines but only for 'accommodation purposes.'

MANILA- The government has allowed hotels and other lodges to operate in the Philippines but only for "accommodation purposes," Malacañang said Thursday.

The said establishments may operate in areas under community quarantine as long as there is a certificate of authority to operate from the Department of Tourism, based on the latest resolution of the government's inter-agency task force on pandemic response. Spa services, bars, gyms, restaurant and cafe operations within such facilities will still not be allowed, the IATF said.

Hotels won't actually survive on 'accommodation purposes' only. They actually earn more for events, functions and F&B.

Why would anyone book for just a fraction of the facilities? The economy isn't going to recover with all these restrictions in place and a great deal of businesses will go bust if there isn't a rethink pretty soon.
