Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. apologizes in behalf of the government's pandemic response task force following the outrage over the overflow crowds that showed up at the reopening of the Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. apologized on Wednesday in behalf of the government's pandemic response task force following the outrage over the overflow crowds that showed up at the Manila Baywalk Dolomite Beach last weekend., Galvez said he acknowledged the lapses committed by the government on the"very disappointing" incident, noting that they will tackle the issue with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases at its meeting on Thursday.

He said that the incident shows the eagerness of the people to go out amid eased restrictions, but it also raises the need to scale up the country's vaccination drive to protect more Filipinos against COVID-19. "Kaya natin pinu-push ang mass vaccination kasi nakita natin ang eagerness ng mga tao na gusto na nila talagang lumabas including families,"[Translation: This is why we have been pushing for mass vaccination because we see the eagerness of the people to go out, including families.]

Galvez said they will ensure that the IATF will tackle ways to prevent other"superspreader" events from happening again. The Environment department on Wednesday ordered the relief of Manila Baywalk Coordinating Office deputy executive director Jacob Meimban after failing to control the 121,000 visitors that flocked to the dolomite beach on Oct. 24, a breach of the 50% allowed capacity for outdoor activities under Metro Manila's Alert Level 3 system.

I'm really so confused on what's going on. I'm not into politics and I know it's pandemic still. Those guys in it know better than myself as to the safety pandemic protocol, etc. Seriously obeying protocols each time I go out since day one. Come on leadership!!🇵🇭

I see mostly looking late 20s and early 30s. Don’t blame you if some give more importance to their social media status than their lives.

really looks organized, maybe to distract us from something?
