CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Games and Amusements Board requested the World Boxing Association to hold an immediate “Constructive Dialogue” to fix numerous controversial issues that affected Filipino boxers last year.
The 31-year-old Saludar lost the WBA world minimumweight title to Erick Sosa in the latter’s country in Dominican Republic last December 12 via split decision. Aside from that issue, Saludar’s camp also conducted an inquiry regarding the controversial officiating during the fight which they believed favored the hometown boxer.
Rontal also pointed out that there was no judge coming from neutral countries that officiated the world title bout. All three judges were from Dominican Republic and neighboring countries, which they find unfair.
