Filipino sculptor Ben-Hur Villanueva was the man behind 'Ang Supremo' sculpture located at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City

Filipino sculptor Ben-Hur Villanueva passed away at 81.Villanueva was the man behind “Ang Supremo” sculpture located at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City. The sculpture depicts Andres Bonifacio clutching a crumpled cedula, instead of waving the usual bladed weapon.

Other popular sculptures of Villanueva are “The Risen Christ” in Caleruega in Nasugbu, Batangas., and"Thy Will Be Done" situated inside the St. Paul University Quezon City campus. In 1984, Villanueva bagged a gold medal in sculpture from the Art Association of the Philippines for his work titled, “Protection.”

The sculptor also shared his knowledge to young people as an art instructor at the Philippine Women’s University and Ateneo de Manila University.The interment is set on Saturday, February 1.
