Former Valladolid Mayor Romel Yogore has been convicted by the Sandiganbayan Seventh Division of graft involving the municipality’s irregular procurement of construction materials back in 2008.He was sentenced to imprisonment of six years and one month, as minimum, to eight years as maximum, with perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
On December 18, 2008, Yogore and the other local officials were accused of giving undue advantage to Nieve, owner of JB Nieve Hardware & Construction Supplies, when they procured construction materials for the repair and improvement of the Rural Health Unit of Valladoid worth P230,395.31 without the conduct of public bidding. Nieve is also the brother-in-law of Yogore.
However, the anti-graft court ruled that the BAC members cannot be convicted of graft because there is no showing that they witnessed or were aware of the delivery of the materials even before they distributed the Requests for Quotation.
