Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Roberto “Bobby” Romulo has passed away at the age of 83, the Carlos P. Romulo Foundation confirmed.

Romulo died on Jan. 23, Sunday, the foundation said. The cause of his death was not disclosed.“In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice,” the Carlos P. Romulo Foundation posted on its website.

Those who would like to pay tribute to the late cabinet member are encouraged to send their written or video messages to the foundation’s email.if you’d like us to post your written or video messages,” the foundation said.The foundation said Romulo began his professional career with IBM Corporation in New York City in 1965 where he held various marketing and management positions in New York, Thailand and the Philippines .

He was appointed Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the Commission of the European Communities in June 1989. In 1992, he was appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs. As a diplomat, he has been decorated by the governments of Belgium, Thailand, Spain, Chile, France, and the Philippines.
