“The commission provided enough guidance to the distribution utilities on their dealings with their consumers during the periods of the ECQ and modified enhanced community quarantine, so as not to cause additional burden at the time of a public health emergency due to COVID-19,” said ERC Chair and CEO Agnes Devanadera.“We cannot tolerate such noncompliance and any erring party must be held accountable for their actions or misactions,” she added.
In particular, the ERC cited its earlier directives that said the word “estimate” should be clearly written on the electric bill. The ERC also cited its directives on the amortization of the bills in four equal monthly installments, and that payment by customers under ECQ extension until May 15 should start no earlier than May 30.
In May, Meralco said it had waived the convenience fee. But in a hearing at the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Meralco said it started charging for the fee again since customers now had other options to pay their bills.According to its website, Meralco is the largest private electricity distributor in the Philippines, serving 36 cities and 75 municipalities.
roycanivel_inq sana pati dito sa probinsya yung First Bay Power Corporation mapa explain din ng ERC!
roycanivel_inq Meralco already done what is due, meter reading, I received the 3 month individually red, its okay to my consumption pattern. And, they have a clear letter on how to pay in six installments by providing the grand total amount due and monthly installment payments.
roycanivel_inq If only there’s another alternative
roycanivel_inq meralco never exercise an effort to notify customers to avail amortize billing since the start of ECQ. They just keep on annoucing from media network but failed to fullfill commitment.
roycanivel_inq Lets say your Meralco last reading was March....then they resume meter reading on June, the difference with corresponding charging rates and amortized by offered terms of (4) months...THAT SIMPLE.
roycanivel_inq meralco has violated IATF Provisions and Guidelines by billing April, May and surge billing of June 2020. Simple...last reading vs present reading then amortized on offered terms....thats it! I don’t see the difficulty!
