Francisco Quidato shows his collapsed house in Barangay Malawanit after a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit Magsaysay town in Davao del Sur on Wednesday.
“The financial aid were given to residents for them to reconstruct their houses which were totally detroyed by the earthquake,” said NDRRMC spokesperson Mark Timbal. “When it comes to the actual reconstruction of the affected areas, we will draw a recovery and rehabilitation plan. Once the damage assessment has been completed, part of the recommendations will be the programming for the reconstruction,” he said.
Timbal said the local DRRMC officials were continuously monitoring the effects of the earthquake as they advised residents to stay alert for possible aftershocks.
