AS the 38th and 39th Asean Summit and Related Summits wrap up, President Rodrigo Duterte welcomed the United States government's commitment to strengthen its ties with the regional bloc with regards to effectively addressing public health emergencies.

'As this pandemic has shown, nations need to be prepared -- individually and collectively -- to effectively address public health emergencies. As we work towards inclusive recovery, we count on greater cooperation [with] the US on human resources development, including in technical and vocational education and training,' he added.
