President Rodrigo Duterte wants a dialogue with social media giant Facebook after it recently shut down pages linked to the state forces that were found spreading misinformation.

“We allow you to operate here, hoping that you could help us also,” said Duterte. “Now, if you cannot advocate something which is [for] the good of the people, then what is your purpose here in the country?”“If you cannot help me protect government interest, then let us talk,” he said.

The President also accused the social media platform of enabling rebellion after the shutdown of the fake accounts. “If you are promoting the cause of the rebellion, which was already here before you came, and thousands of my soldiers and civilians dying,” said Duterte. “Then if you cannot reconcile the idea of what your purpose is or was, then we have to talk.”Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that supporters of Duterte would likely look for other platforms after the shutdown of the said fake accounts. - that were found posting spam or irrelevant content.

What do we expect Shutdown pro-govt accounts like AFP, PNP and page for those parents losing their children to the leftists! But retain thise page promoting lefts activities!

Kung kaya mo Hahaha..

yawa gyud ng FB bisan wa gani ko mag apil-apil sa politics o issue on both left ug right, ilang gi shut off akong account kay di daw ko legit, robot daw ako, eww ka gwapo ko ra 😛😛😜😜

He probably thinks FB is just like ABS.

They can put it on its company policy kala ko ba ayaw nila ng fake news

CNN your tweet is misleading. Those accounts are shutdown by biased and unreliable fucked up checkers of fb Philippines. Let’s be clear with that.

Gago, BasurangMedia

LOLz! Ano ito Cayetano-Velasco spat?! Eh yung Barreto-sisters nga di niya naayos. Why does FB have to meet with him?

LoL dutertepeste

Mr Prez, that means you have misused/abused the FB platform by encouraging misinformation. It’s their platform that you’ve been using for your agenda. They have the right to cancel people that misuse the platform, right? Anong mali sa ginawa nila to warrant your threats?

uhh..everybody signed and agreed to FB TOS. It's within the company's right to shut down pages and acct they deem violate the contract. So feeling powerful lang si Duterte?🙄

ShutdownFacebook

This is not misinformation. You don't want your kids get recruited by NPAs. Impregnated by them later on die in encounter w/ our soldiers.

GO, DO IT!!!!!!!

I shut down na po ba? Pag usapan na sa congress yan. Hahaha.

PaalamDuterte

Dare him, he can’t kawawa naman yon mga alipores na nagkakalat ng fake news

Hahaha trolls and fake news makers kasi fb page ng supporters mo!

SocMed is not an arbiter for truth. It is a platform of issues and ideas, personal and not, to which the community must choose to validate. The idea is for anyone to find if it is true or not, and which to believe or not. It must uphold what it stands for.

Ako talaga may pakana nyan. Gumawa ako ng 'fake' pro duterte accounts. Tapos nag spread ako ng 'fake' news. lol

There is life after Facebook. That's for sure! Welcome Webtalk, a socmed platform more saner than FB. It's just not popular yet.

If hes going to ban Facebook, it will affect the boomers. Most millennials ,and gen z /genx use other forms of social media.

RnLeviste Facebook sides with the activists!!!...same as happening in the USA...if you're a conservative then you are being censored by fb...but if you side and always agree with the left, they ignore it!!!

About time sir!! They are the unofficial censors.

Declined, they don't talk to clowns

If Facebook will not refrain from siding with the opposition/destabilizers, leftists of the country then we (MAJORITY OF THE 110 Million Filipinos) will agree of its banning in The Philippines.

The Americans CIA will take you down just like what they did to Marcos. TangInaMoDuterte ABSCBNNews gmanews

Pathetic

A page protecting children from Communist Groups was shutdown by Facebook. Hands off our Children was a legimitate group which has a true cause against massive indoctrination of CPP NPA group.

Pati ba nmn yan pag aksayan nya ng time?! 😏you should not use FB the if ypu cant follow their policy!

It's a basic law on due process, the State has interest on this because media giant such as Facebook could easily shutdown pages without proof that certain page is fake or not. It boils down to right of information or expression and police power of the State.

The pages that were linked to PNP pnppio and TeamAFP Armed Forces of the Philippines were definitely NOT spreading misinformation. They're countering the propaganda of the communist rebel group CPP-NPA and fighting together with HandsOffOurChildren on-campus rebel recruitment.

Keyword, MISINFORMATION!!

DDS are like fuelled by Facebook coz it's basically free access in smartphones that's why the wheels of populism are running. Take away FB and let's see where the DDS will go.

HAHAHA what a clown

Policy of fake news

Is this another kind of ‘abs-cbn’ he’ll shut down? So, no company, foreign or domestic, is safe? (Foreign investors backtracking now!)

Why is he overly defensive re FB pages with inauthentic behavior? Is he justifying their existence? 🤔🙄 Aren't there enough LEGIT government agencies, offices and officials with their LEGIT pages to ESPOUSE, & PROPAGATE the Gospel of Duterte & PROSELYTIZE his DDS Nation? 🦤🐢

desperado si tatay, pano na nga naman ang kanyang troll farm. he won by a landslide of fake news in 2016. 👊🏼💩

He’s really petty as hell.
