MONTEGRANDE/FILE PHOTOMalacanang on Sunday said President Rodrigo Duterte’s strong opposition to the release from jail on good conduct time of rapist and murderer Antonio Sanchez, former client of Presidential Spokesperson and chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo, should put the controversial issue to rest.
The high court also could not let Sanchez, once the poweful mayor of Calauan town, Laguna province, benefit from increased good conduct time allowance as earlier cited by Justice Secretary Meynard Guevarra. Added the Palace official, “So just like I said, we better stop talking about it because he will not pass even in the first round .”
On Friday, Sen. Bong Go, Mr. Duterte’s longtime special aide, said the President was “angry” upon learning that Sanchez could be freed anytime soon for “good conduct.”
