President Duterte told an international news channel to not believe the reports published by online news website Rappler, saying the organization was funded by America’s Central Intelligence Agency .In an interview with RT, a Russian international television network funded by the Russian government, journalist Murad Gazdiev asked Duterte about his supposed absence during the eruption of the Taal Volcano. In response, Duterte told Gazdiev to not believe in Rappler.
“I was there two days earlier then I went home to Davao to rest. When I came back last night , I went directly again to the evacuation areas.” Earlier, Malacañang said Duterte decided to ban Rappler because he lost trust and confidence in Rappler reporter Pia Ranada and became irritated with her. Rappler has filed a petition with the Supreme Court to lift the government’s order banning Rappler and its reporters from joining presidential coverages and entering the Malacañang compound.
