As he allowed the further easing of lockdown measures in the country, President Duterte said Thursday (May 28) the coronavirus situation in the country is not too bad.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte updates the nation on the government’s efforts in addressing the coronavirus disease at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang on May 28, 2020.

He said the country has 11,069 total active cases, including 330 in the National Capital Region, 55 in Region 7, 99 from other regions, and 55 repatriates.The President has agreed to downgrade the quarantine restrictions in Metro Manila and other places upon the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases .

The health department earlier reported 593 cases, the largest one-day jump in infections, that brought the total to 15,588.
