With the continuous delivery of COVID-19 vaccines to the country, President Rodrigo Duterte hopes that cities in the country can meet their target of vaccinated individuals before Christmas. Read the story:

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed optimism that most cities in the country will hit or surpass the COVID-19 vaccination target before Christmas.

"We're confident that most, if not all, cities in the country will hit or even surpass the target before Christmas," he said.Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. also presented the government's immunization strategy for the rest of the year until the second quarter of 2022.

He said the plan is to reach 1.5 million vaccinations per day.Galvez explained that he expects the move to open inoculation to children and the general public starting this month will drive up demand for the shots.To reach the"safe Christmas" goal, Galvez said at least 50 million of the priority population should be vaccinated before the holidays.

At least 70% in the National Capital Region and 10 key cities should also be fully immunized within that period, he also said.Galvez reported that over 52 million people nationwide have been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.
