Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Tuesday said it is hoping that Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPi) members will not push through with their threats to withdraw their Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) accreditations.

In an open letter addressed to PhilHealth President Ricardo Morales, PHAPi said that most hospitals have yet to receive their reimbursements and some hospitals in Mindanao were stripped of accreditation over pending cases.

Many private hospitals might no longer renew their PhilHealth accreditationMany private hospitals might opt not to renew their accreditation with the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), which allows their patients to avail of services which would be paid by the state health insurer. While philhealth pays them back 6 mos or later pa. Ganoon ka bagal magbayad ang Philhealth. It seems the private hospitals are the one financing the healthcare benefits of Philhealth members. Maybe that's really the intention of Philhealth officials... Pass the burden to private institutions.
