The DOT prepared to launch on Sunday the first Philippine Shopping Festival across the country during the whole month of March to shore up sagging tourism receipts. | jovicyeeINQ

Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat has said that the COVID-19 outbreak is forecast to cause nearly P43 billion in losses for the local tourism industry from February to April. For February alone, Puyat said the country is expected to lose over P16.8 billion in tourism receipts.

Moreover, the government has already imposed a travel ban on travelers from China, Hong Kong, Macau, and South Korea although most of the country’s visitors come from those territories. Nonetheless, Duque reminded establishments participating in the Philippine Shopping Festival that they should observe disinfection procedures to help protect the public.“The availability of disinfectants must be there, provided by the mall management. Guards or whoever is designated [should] do thermal [checks] on everyone who enters the mall. [Those] will more or less reduce the risk,” he said.

jovicyeeINQ Untimely event!!!!

jovicyeeINQ While other richer countries even suspends classes, here's these m*orons organizing crowded events

jovicyeeINQ Usap muna kayong dalawa para di halatang walang pakialam sa inyo ang amo nyo.

jovicyeeINQ Is this WHO suggestion too? People please avoid the crowd yet. Allow the hot tyre to cool down before driving fast again

jovicyeeINQ It's not about the cost. Takot nga mahawa sa corona virus. r2rivs

jovicyeeINQ Okay lang ba si mam Berna?

jovicyeeINQ Seryoso?!!

jovicyeeINQ Ang galing coordination, Parang MMDA at DPWH lang

jovicyeeINQ kitang mas importante ang pera kesa buhay ng mga pilipino

jovicyeeINQ Dios ko BernaPuyat SARSCoV2 is a global health emergency. Tourism receipts are down worldwide. It is a necessary step to curb its spread. It’s a necessary loss we have to take. Gov’t should just find other ways to offset that. Huwag niyo nang ipilit pa! Ipapahamak nyo pa kami

jovicyeeINQ Maam Bernadette, just make sure that the tourists still in the country enjoy thenselves and are treated very well.

jovicyeeINQ Shows us how inept this govt is.... One dept says one thing while another encourages doing the opposite. .

jovicyeeINQ Bad idea....

jovicyeeINQ How much more ironic could this government ever get?

jovicyeeINQ There could be more economic losses po once local transmission of covid-19 occurs don't you think

jovicyeeINQ It is a choice between tourism that will satisfy the greed of big business at the risk of infecting and spreading a deadly infectious disease and public health and safety. Let us choose public health. Let us all be safe and healthy.

jovicyeeINQ No thanks. Shopping on line better.

jovicyeeINQ The left hand does not what the right hand is doing

jovicyeeINQ Sana nagusap sila 😳

jovicyeeINQ Mga ganid😁

jovicyeeINQ The DOH stating we shouldn’t have large gatherings of people. Being led by fools

jovicyeeINQ It's just ridiculous (apart from utter careless) that DOT is pushing for this shopping festival. They're encouraging people we need to avoid to mingle with the rest of the vulnerable populace. A clear case of reckless imprudence.

jovicyeeINQ It might be a good idea to take the doctors' advice on this. We are facing a potential PANDEMIC and SHOPPING is not the solution to 'everything'.

jovicyeeINQ ano to? turismo vs kaligtasan? db prevention is better than cure? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

jovicyeeINQ DO NOT DRINK THE KOOL-AID!

jovicyeeINQ Filipinos, please, merong covid19. Wag na muna mag shopping. Let's wait it out. Sa hokkaido nga dinidiscourage ang mga tao lumabas

jovicyeeINQ Sabi ni govt avoid crowded places. Hindi crowded diyan?

jovicyeeINQ Only a kamote president appoints kamote government official

jovicyeeINQ Nagiiisip ba tong mga to?

jovicyeeINQ napakatalino ng nakaisip nto ha 😏😏😏

jovicyeeINQ Parang magkaiba ng gobyerno! Mag-usap-usap din kayo pag may time. 😂😂😂

jovicyeeINQ Fuck incompetence

jovicyeeINQ That is greed more than the public health.

jovicyeeINQ Madam BernaPuyat , please cancel this event.
