Anticipating job losses as a result of more companies seeking automation using artificial intelligence, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has launched a training program meant to re-training affected workers for other skills.

“The projected number of those who will be affected is significant,” said DOST Sec. Fortunato de la Peña on Friday, Jan. 29, during a virtual presser hosted by the Presidential Communications Operations Office .

De la Pena said training program is done under Smarter Philippines through Data Analytics, Research and Development . “We are the ones managing and funding that but we are helped by the Development Academy of the Philippines and Data Analytics Association of the Philippines,” the secretary added.So far, he noted that “out of the 30,000, we have close to 23,000 now.”
