The Department of Science and Technology is currently developing an instrument that would alarm ships of possible collisions.DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Pena said DOST’s Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development is currently developing the instrument s called the Automatic Identification System .

On the other hand, De la Peña said the DOST-PCIEERD has yet to determine when the AIS will be available for commercial use. “It has a web application map that provides real-time information on the movements of ships and the current location of ships in harbors and ports,” he said.

Seriously AIS? Large vessels are using AIS since 2004.. hopefully ur device is much cheaper than what we already have in the market..kasi simpleng gps nga lang hnd pa makabili ng ibang vessels eh.. AIS pa kaya..
