The Department of Justice is looking into the validity of the memorandum of agreement between PhilHealth and the Philippine Red Cross on coronavirus testing, as well as procurement issues, a Cabinet official says.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation or PhilHealth requested the review, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra told reporters.

The humanitarian organization stopped conducting swab tests charged to PhilHealth after collectibles ballooned to nearly ₱931 million. Newly appointed PhilHealth President and CEO Dante Gierransigned by his predecessor. The Red Cross has since facilitated over a million tests, one-fourth of the country’s testing capacity.
