DOH racing to validate 6,800 COVID19 cases

MANILA — The Department of Health on Monday said it was aiming to finish the validation of 6,800 positive coronavirus disease tests to come up with a more accurate picture of the outbreak.

Last month, ABS-CBN News reported about the widening gap between people testing positive for COVID-19 in the Philippines. The DOH later explained that the Epidemiology Bureau had not been able to keep up with the release of test results due to the tedious process of validating. The DOH also hit claims that it had not been honest about the Philippines' pandemic situation.

Philippines has 18,086 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Sunday but already logged 23,843 positive cases on Saturday. DOH said the discrepancy was due to cases that needed validation from the DOH’s Epidemiology Bureau .
