The Department of Health (DOH) provided healthcare workers with face shields that are in good condition, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire says.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 25) — The Department of Health (DOH) provided healthcare workers with face shields that are in good condition, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said Saturday.Vergeire was reacting to a Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. official's
admission during Friday's Senate hearingthat their firm had changed the production dates of government-procured face shields from 2020 to 2021 due to"supply concern." This was revealed by a Pharmally warehouse staff, who added that the face shields they were told to tamper with were already"expired" and"substandard."
Pharmally won several contracts worth over ₱8 billion from the government, including those awarded for the supply of allegedly"overpriced" face masks and face shields, even though the company had a paid-up capital of just ₱625,000."Kailangan lang ho natin i-validate if these deliveries ay talagang nagkaroon ng mga ganitong kakulangan," Vergeire said in a Laging Handa briefing. headtopics.com
[Translation: We need to validate if these deliveries had these deficiencies.]"But as far as DOH is concerned, whatever we were able to deliver to all of our healthcare workers ay maayos po (were in good condition)," she added.Vergeire also said the department does not accept damaged medical supplies."We do inspections also," she added.
Medical-grade face shields have a shelf life, according to Vergeire. While it is not dangerous to use expired face shields, Vergeire said healthcare workers should only receive equipment that are indeed protective."Kailangan siyempre kumpleto at maayos ang maibibigay natin sa kanilang mga gamit para sila ay protektado sa sakit," she said.Read more: CNN Philippines »

The Department of Education is eyeing to complete the list of 120 schools for the pilot run of limited face-to-face classes before it starts on November 15
Nakapikit cguro... only in the Pelepens... 🙄 The mere fact that it was tampered meant it was not any more in good condition...matagal ko na sinasabi na walang kwentang spokeswoman ito. Sabay ganun :;;,, Did DOH inspect all the deliveries,if theres any from Pharmally who admitted having tampered and delivered substandard medical supplies.. Did DOH have other supplier apart fr Pharmally? Where did all these tampered medical supplies go?Vergeires’ defenses leaves more questions..
but that doesn't mean that DOH didn't pay for defective faceshields!
